The Justice & Legal Advocacy Department exists to be your trusted guide and fierce advocate from the police report to the courtroom verdict. We provide free legal representation, relentless case follow-up, and compassionate court accompaniment to ensure your right to justice is realized.

Our Core Legal Services

1. ⚖️ Free Legal Representation & Consultation

• Pro-Bono Lawyer Network: Access to experienced attorneys who provide free, confidential legal advice, case strategy, and full court representation.

• Initial Legal Clinics: Walk-in or scheduled consultations at our office to understand your rights and legal options.

• Case Documentation: Assistance with preparing police statements, gathering medical evidence, and filing all necessary court documents.

2. 🏛️ Court Accompaniment & Navigation Support

• You Are Not Alone: A trained legal officer or volunteer will accompany you to every police interview, prosecutor meeting, and court hearing.

• System Demystified: We explain each step of the legal process—from charge to trial—in clear, simple language.

• Witness Preparation: We help you and your witnesses prepare to give clear, confident testimony.

3. 🔍 Active Case Monitoring & Follow-Up

• Dedicated Case Manager: Your case is assigned to a legal officer who tracks its progress and fights against delays or inactivity.

• Police Liaison: We work directly with Victim Support Units (VSU) to follow up on investigations and ensure your case file moves forward.

• Prosecutor Engagement: We maintain contact with the National Prosecution Authority to advocate for your case and monitor its handling.

We strengthen your case by leveraging our formal partnerships with:

• National Legal Aid Clinic for Women: For specialized GBV litigation support.

• Legal Resources Foundation: For legal research and precedent assistance.

• Law Association of Zambia (LAZ): For a wider network of pro-bono legal professionals.

• Transport to Justice Appointments: Travel to police stations, courts, and legal meetings is coordinated and covered through our shared system with the Survivor Support Department.

• Communication Support: Provision of secure communication (airtime) for essential case updates.

• Safe Waiting Areas: Access to private, secure waiting spaces away from potential intimidation at court premises.
