Your time and talent are powerful tools in the fight against sexual violence. Join a dedicated community of volunteers providing critical support, justice, and hope across Zambia.
Why Volunteer with AASEV?
When you volunteer with AASEV, you don't just fill a shift; you become part of a national movement for justice and healing. You’ll gain hands-on experience, connect with passionate advocates, and see the direct impact of your contribution in the lives of survivors and communities. Here, your compassion meets tangible action.
Volunteer Departments and Roles
Apply your skills by serving in our core departments. Each volunteer needs to choose a department which they think best suits their skills and abilities in contributing to the campaigns.
1. Outreach & Support Department
Purpose: Provide immediate, holistic care to survivors from crisis to recovery.
Volunteer Roles:

Helpline Responder: Provide first-response support and safety planning.

Safe Haven Support: Assist with logistics and psychosocial support at safe spaces.

Survivor Follow-up Officer: Conduct check-ins and track survivor progress.

Empowerment Scheme Assistant: Help administer economic grants and training. (Service not available yet.)
2. Justice & Legal Advocacy Department
Purpose: Guide survivors through the legal system and fight for accountability.
Volunteer Roles:

Legal Clerk/Paralegal: Assist with case documentation, research, and court filings.

Court Accompaniment Volunteer: Provide moral support for survivors attending hearings.

Police Liaison Support: Help coordinate with Victim Support Units (VSU) on case follow-up.
3. Awareness & Prevention Department
Purpose: Change harmful norms and prevent violence through education and mobilization.
Volunteer Roles:

Community Mobilizer: Facilitate dialogues and workshops in villages and compounds.

Media & Content Volunteer: Help create fliers, videos, and social media content.

School Program Facilitator: Deliver age-appropriate workshops in educational institutions.
4. Reform Advocacy Department
Purpose: Drive systemic change through policy research, campaigns, and institutional engagement.
Volunteer Roles:

Research Assistant: Collect data and help draft policy briefs and reports.

Campaign Mobilizer: Organize petitions, letter-writing drives, and advocacy events.

Stakeholder Engagement Support: Help prepare materials for meetings with government and partners
Process to becoming a Volunteer
Your Clear Path to Making a Difference:

Apply Online – Submit your application form.

Committee Review – Your application is reviewed by the AASEV Local Volunteer Committee.

Acceptance & Orientation – If accepted, you'll attend mandatory orientation and capacity-building training, culminating in a certificate of completion.

Specialization – Based on your skills and department needs, you may receive specialized training for your specific role.

Kit & Accreditation – You will receive your official AASEV Volunteer ID, organizing T-shirt, and cap.

Start Operating – Begin your meaningful volunteer work with full support from your department supervisor.

A: No minimum age! We welcome volunteers of all ages. For those under 18, we require written consent from a parent or guardian during the application process.
Q: Which department should I choose?
A: Our application form helps match your skills and interests to the right department. You can also indicate your preference.
Q: How long does the committee review take?
A: The AASEV Local Committee reviews applications weekly. You'll hear back within 7-10 business days.
Q: Is the orientation training paid for?
A: Yes, all training is provided free of charge. We invest in our volunteers.
Q: What does the 'specialization' stage involve?
A: After general orientation, you may receive additional training specific to your role (e.g., crisis counseling for Helpline Responders, legal research for Justice volunteers).
Q: Can I switch departments later?
A: Yes, after 6 months of service, volunteers can apply for an internal transfer based on capacity and department needs.
